Overnight Apple Oatmeal

Has it been a long weekend?  How about a nutritious breakfast to change things up from the usually cereal before school?  My family loves oatmeal just about anyway, besides Mr.Picky who I have yet to convert.  This oatmeal has to be one of the easiest recipes you can follow and it will not fail you.  You will wake up to a warm breakfast, with a wonderful aroma floating through the air.

This oatmeal is completely sweetened and just needs a little cream or milk to finish off the bowl.  I am sure you can add raisins as well.  The leftover are great in my Breakfast Oatmeal Muffin recipe.  Overnight Apple Oatmeal

Overnight Apple Oatmeal:

  • 2-3 apples, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups old fashion oatmeal
  • 4 cups water

Place ingredients in the slow cooker in the order listed.  DO NOT stir.

Turn your slow cooker to low and cook 8 hours.  My slow cooker runs warm so I cook it on high for 1 hour and the turn it to keep low for probably about 9-10 hours.
